Pheak is a 24-year-old single man who lives in a rural village of the Kandal Stoeng district, Cambodia. To make a living, he has been farming rice for almost three years and supplements his family’s income by working as a paid worker in garment factory. The current business earns him about 40,00KHR per day.
He is in his first VisionFund cycle. He is applying for a loan of 1,600,000KHR to buy fertilizers, pesticides and rice seeds for his farmland. He hopes that this loan will enable him to earn more crop yield from his business so as to fulfill his dream of having a decent motorbike for commuting to work.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
