Las Ranitas Group
In this Group: Teresa, Alejandrina , Veronica, Agustina
Doña Teresa is a member of a group called Las Ranitas. She is 63 years old, married to Macario, a day laborer, and only has a middle school education.

Doña Teresa has grown noni fruits for a little more than a decade, caring for a small orchard at her home and harvesting the fruit. She says that most of the time she sells the fruits to a factory that produces juice from them. Doña Teresa also notes that she sometimes trades noni fruits in exchange for bottles of juice from the factory, which she sells to generate income.

Doña Teresa says that the best thing about her work is that she sells a natural product that helps cure many illnesses. She has also begun to study the curative properties of noni fruit.

Doña Tere also sells clothing for men and women to earn extra income. A loan from VisionFund will help her pay for truck maintenance and purchase clothing (shirts, blouses, pants, shorts, skirts, and underwear).

Doña Teresa wants her business to keep growing and provide her a better quality of life.

The other members of the group are:
Alejandrina, who sells food and honey

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
