Rahab resides in the Nkubu area of Eastern Kenya, a fertile land situated at the slopes of Mt. Kenya. She is married and has three children. She has practiced farming for over twenty years. Her main sources of income are cash crops and horticultural crops.
She wants to venture into poultry farming and has thus requested a loan of 50,000 KES for purchasing poultry. This will add to her sources of income egg production and thus improve her family's living standards. In five years' time, she wants to have over 5,000 poultry layers and broilers. The challenge she faces is insufficient funds, pests and diseases. She appreciates Juhudi Kilimo for its processing of loans.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
