A loan of $10,000 helped to purchase inventory for his Excellent Prix Mini Market at his new location.

Marc Elysee's story

Marc is a 43-year-old entrepreneur from Ivory Coast, Cote d’Ivoire seeking the American Dream and giving his family a better life. Marc established a business called Excellent Prix Mini Market in December of 2011 in pursuit of that dream. Prior to opening the business, Marc struggled through much adversity. In one instance, a previous landlord of the retail location required Marc to prepay the rent for a full year. After being at the location for a few months, the landlord placed a condition to Marc requiring that his mini market only sell African food, otherwise they would not be allowed to retain the location.

Without proper resources to secure a resolution, Marc left the location and the unused prepaid rent, for which he was entitled to receiving a reimbursement. Marc has moved on and has since secured a new location with a new landlord. He is now seeking a microloan to finance the store’s inventory.
