Lorenzo is a member of the group called Las Guerreras (The Warriors). They decided on this name for the group because the majority of their members are women and all of them fight like warriors to get their families ahead through their business and economic activities. This group is located in Tres Valles where the main activities are trade and growing sugar cane and pineapple.

Lorenzo is 47 years old, he only finished secondary school and he is single. He says that for more than 10 years he has worked selling dough and he does this with the help of his motorcycle. Everyday, Lorenzo gets up very early to start grinding his boiled corn. Afterwards he packs it into kilo and kilo and a half bags to later, with the help of his motorcycle, go out onto the streets to deliver his orders and sell the rest of his dough.

He is very well-known in his community and when he passes by, the women come out to buy. What he likes most about his business is that he has made good friends and he earns his own money.

A loan from VisionFund will help him to buy a tonne of corn to continue his business. He is very happy with his business because it has given him a job and the opportunity to have a better quality of life.

In the future he hopes his business grows and he earns more profits. "Thank you for the loan, which gives me the opportunity to work investing in the business - from it we are taking money for our pay and to eat".

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
