Evelyn of Sto. Niño, Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur, is married with four children. She has owned and operated a general store selling groceries in town for five years to make a living.
In 2008, she joined GDMPC and it helps her to improve her ability to engage in business and also to gain access to micro-finance services.
She took a loan of 7,000 PHP to purchase canned goods, bottled products, sugar and milk. She plans to expand her store and to sell general merchandise in the near future.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
