Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Fernando's story

Fernando is 21 years old. He is a friendly, enterprising man. He is single, doesn’t have any children, and lives with his family in his parents’ home. Fernando’s business is oriented toward the electricity sector. His job is repairing electrical appliances such as televisions, sound equipment, washing machines, and other items. Similarly, he works on electrification and residential lighting projects designing plans according to the profile requested. In his home, he has a computer that he uses in order to perform his job with good results. He learned this trade by studying at an electrician school and put his skills in practice two years ago. Currently, he works with private companies that need his services. What he likes about this business is that it allows him to have substantial income, which enables him to pay for his own expenses and provide his siblings with a better quality of life. At this time, he is requesting S/. 2000. He is very happy to know that he will have financial support because, in this way, he feels confident in moving forward with his business. Once again, he promises to make his payments on time. He will invest the entire amount of the requested loan in the purchase of basic electronic tools such as pincers, cables, gloves, and other items.
