Getrude is a resident of Masyoro in Sheema district. She is 40 years old. She grew up with support from the well-wishers who gave her accommodation, school fees and food in exchange for work on their farms. She dropped out of school after primary seven and joined a local building group where she was trained in brick-making. She later got married and they started to work together for survival.
Together with her husband, they got a loan of 1,000,000 UGX from Ugafode micro finance which they used to expand their brick-making project. Unfortunately, her husband died, leaving her with four children.
She is now requesting a loan of 2,000,000 UGX to increase the working capital in her business. In the photograph is the loan officer and the client.
