Eudesa, a 57-year-old married mother of three children, lives in Taguitic, Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte. To earn a living, she makes nipa to sell. Her husband earns an income from fishing. In 2008, she joined GDMPC. She has requested a loan of 5,000 PHP to purchase nipa leaves to be used for weaving. She plans to expand her business to earn more income.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
