Benita
Benita, 39, lives in the city of Ica, a city noted for its hot, welcoming weather as well as its agriculture especially cotton and grape growing, among others. Benita is the mother of two children who are 8 and 11 years old who she loves very much and for whom she works and sacrifices to provide them with better quality of life above all so they will be upstanding citizens and much better than her; because of this she and her husband strive to overcome adversities and continue moving forward.

Benita works every day as a laborer on a large agricultural estate. She works about 9 hours daily and believes she’s getting ahead because she’s very responsible and does her work well.

Benita is very grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks to the help they’ve given her she will be able to buy building supplies to build a room out of substantial materials (cement, sand, gravel, etc.) to be able to improve her children’s quality of life and Benita will thus gradually build her house with substantial materials and continue to strive to make her greatest dream reality: to provide her son with a profession and to be able to have a business of her own.

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
