Panfilo
Señor Pánfilo is 40, married, and has two children who are still in school. Pánfilo is very respected and loved in his neighbourhood. He is dedicated to his work and his family. Some days he has to work as a day labourer on farms in order to earn a few more pesos and provide his family with their daily bread. He also works on his own small plot of land near his home. This year the cold season came on quickly and affected his potato and peanut crops. Because his only source of income is his yearly harvest, Pánfilo does not want to lose his crops. For this reason, he is requesting a loan for the purchase of organic and chemical fertilizers. He knows that these fertilizers will allow his crops to grow normally again. He also tells us that he will take the next opportunity to take out larger loans which will allow him to undertake projects with greater value.
