Bassam is a 41-year-old Lebanese man, he is married and living with his wife and four children. His wife works in a local school in order to supplement the family’s earnings. As for Bassam, he is the main source of income and has worked hard in the construction field for the past 13 years. Over these years, Bassam was able to build a good business reputation as well as hiring two part time employees to help him accomplish the tough tasks. Today, he is requesting to borrow from Kiva partner Vitas s.a.l to purchase metal scaffolding so as to carry out his work properly. In the future, Bassam looks forward to opening a small construction office where he will distribute jobs to construction entrepreneurs to expand his work and become an expert at his job.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
