Beatrice is a 41-year-old businesswoman from Liberia. She is married and has five children between the ages of 26 and 16; one is currently attending school and two live at home. She completed grade 3 before starting her business. She describes herself as a hardworking woman.
She lives and works in Paynesville North, which has the largest market in Montserrado County. The area is home to “round-time marketers,” the local term for traders who travel to the interior regions of the country to purchase goods to sell throughout the county. Because of this, there are a large number of wholesalers operating in the area who distribute to the markets in the county, including supplying the capital city of Monrovia.
Beatrice has a shop business which has sold soft drinks, beer, Guinness, etc., for the past 13 years. She works 18 hours each day at her business. Her greatest challenge in business is having few goods in her shop. She intends to use the loan to buy more soft drinks, beer, Guinness, etc. She started her business by her husband. She likes her business because she makes a profit. She hopes to one day to open another shop.
She wants to thank the Kiva lenders in advance for their help.
