Phal is 33 years old and also the mother of three schoolchildren, living in a village located in the Sampov Meas district of Pursat Province. She has a five-hectare area for growing paddy rice. This business, which she has been with for 10 years, earns her about 31,000 KHR. Phal is in a second-cycle loan with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She has repaid her past loan already and it has supported her business on time and increased her profit. Now, she is seeking a new loan of 2,000,000 KHR in order to plow her farmland and to buy one sack of fertilizer. She hopes that she can earn more income so that she can expand her business.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
