Vanny, age 33, is a farmer. She lives and works in the Dambae district of Kampong Cham province with her husband and their two children. Both children live at home and are enrolled in school. Vanny and her husband support the family by managing three hectares of cassava farming and two hectares of soybean planting. She has been engaged in this business for 13 years.
This will be Vanny's first loan cycle with Kiva partner VisionFund. She is requesting a loan in order to plow her farmland, buy rice seed, and pay for labor costs.
She strongly believes that this loan will allow her to increase her income, allowing her to offer better living conditions to her family. Her goal is to keep her children in school until the tertiary level.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
