Gabriel Antony
Gabriel is a young 19-year-old living in the city of Ica, a city noted for its very hot climate and also because agriculture develops there especially asparagus, grape and cotton growing, among others. Gabriel is a young man who has gone through difficult times and that’s why he strives daily to get ahead. Because of his limited economic resources he was only able to finish fifth grade of secondary school; he would have liked to have gone to university.

Gabriel works day to day as a laborer on a large agricultural estate in his city. He works about 9 hours per day and helps with his family’s household expenses with the fruits of his labor. He believes he’s getting ahead because he’s responsible and because he very much wants to get ahead.

Gabriel is very grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks to the help they are giving him he will be able to buy building supplies like cement and sand, among others and will be able to do some home improvements; he will install a cement floor because it’s currently dirt and in this way will be able to improve his family’s quality of life and continue striving to make his greatest dream reality: to study a university career and have a business of his own.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
