Beginning in New York as a part-time job, Lawrence brought his chauffer business to Austin, Texas.
Offering personalized service, Lawrence visits business personnel, such as hotel managers, to market himself. From there, he is able to take clients to and from airports, hotels and shopping centers in and around Austin.
Boulevard Chauffeur has been in business for four years. “I enjoy driving,” he says. “Every day is different.” The entrepreneur gene is in Lawrence’s blood, he says. “I enjoy being self-employed.”
Lawrence also says being a chauffeur is a profitable business. As Lawrence is the only employee of his business, he plans to hire one more employee soon. However, before he can hire anyone, he needs to expand his business.
To purchase a second vehicle, Lawrence went to Compass Bank for a loan, but was then referred to Accion Texas Inc. The 46-year-old father of three says the loan helped to take advantage of the opportunity to expand, without which, he would have had to pass.
