Residing in the Thmor Koul district of Battambang province, Roeub is a mother of four children and is 38 years old.
Two of her kids are in school while the other two are too young for school. To overcome her daily costs, she grows rice on one hectare of farmland. In her current business, she can earn about 20,500 KHR per day for her family’s need.
She has successfully paid back her past five loans with VisionFund, Kiva’s partner, and this loan has allowed her family to have better living conditions. Now she is applying for a new loan of 1,200,000 KHR to buy rice seed and fertilizer for her farmland. She hopes that she can increase her income to keep her children in school and save some money for her family needs.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
