Kimsour, 46 years old, has been growing rice and corn as a main source of her family’s income for 12 years. She is a married mother of five children, one of whom is in school and another one of whom is too young for school.
Kimsour is just with VisionFund, Kiva’s partner, for this loan cycle. She is applying for a loan of 4,000,000 KHR to buy pesticides and seeds for her farmland and will also use a portion of loan to pay for plowing her farmland. She hopes to grow her rice on time so as to improve her family living conditions and she hopes to keep her child in school.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
