Sreytouch is a young mother with two children. She lives in a thatched-roof house in Battambang province. Her primary source of income comes from growing rice on five hectares of land and beans on another five hectares. To earn additional income, Sreytouch and her husband also catch fish to sell.
This is Sreytouch's second loan with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She has successfully repaid her past loan, which enabled her to earn more income to sustain her lifestyle. Now, she is seeking for new loan of 2,500,000 KHR in order to pay for plowing fees, and to buy rice seed and fertilizer for her farmland. Sreytouch hopes that she can double her crop output and earn a good income.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
