The borrower Mukobelwa is the leader of the lending group Tuchukuliane. She is a courageous and experienced entrepreneur, 38 years old and mother of nine children, who are all engaged in their studies. Her spouse works at a laundromat (he does dry cleaning and washing). The borrower is a vegetable seller. She started this business with funds from her husband, around 12 years ago. This new loan is going to be used to buy vegetables, etc. Drought and various losses from spoilage are the major obstacles in the development of her business. In the future, she wishes to grow her business and educate, feed, and clothe her children. She thus thanks Hekima for its support as a micro-lender to female entrepreneurs.

HEKIMA is a microfinance institution headquartered in Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), with branch offices in Goma and Bukavu. HEKIMA aims to contribute to the transformation of the economic, social, and spiritual lives of the economically active poor of the DRC. To this end, HEKIMA provides its clients with solidarity group loans to support income-generating activities. Despite ongoing instability and violence in its operating areas, HEKIMA continues to keep its doors open and provide credit and savings services for its over 90% female clientele.
