Amos is a 58-year-old married man with ten children and four dependents who are grandsons from his late son. He was previously a civil servant, but with time and as the children started going to higher institutions of learning, the small salary was inadequate to cater to their financial needs. So, he decided to retire to practice commercial farming of coffee, since he had an averagely big piece of land.
Income from the coffee sales has helped him a lot in educating his children. Amos attributes this to hard work and determination. Having bore many children, he had to struggle a lot to see them get a good education.
Amos narrates that his coffee plantation has been a savior in his financial needs. He has requested a loan of UGX 1,000,000 to complete tuition for his two sons at university, since this is their final year. If his plan is fulfilled, Amos projects a harvest of 15 coffee bags next season, which will enable him to pay up the loan, finish his house that is under construction and pay tuition for his other children.
