Saroen
In her late 40's and a mother of eight children, Saroeun is a villager from Sa Ang district of Kandal province. Currently, five children are still in school. For her kids' sake, she grows beans on two hectares as the main source of income. She has been involved in the current business for ages. This is the first loan for Saroeun with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She is seeking to buy good bean seeds and to buy a water pump for her cash-crop. She hopes that she can make more income to keep her kids in school at least to grade 12 and to build a decent house for her family.

About VisionFund Cambodia

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
