Shamim is married with three children and all her children go to school. She also takes care of her father. She has a beauty salon and has been in this business for three years. She has applied for a loan of 1,000,000 Uganda shillings from MCDT-SACCO to buy more braids, a hand dryer, hair weaves and cream relaxers. She works in a shop that she rents and works seven days out of every week.
Shamim's major business challenges include thieves and frequent electricity outages and increasing prices of cosmetics. She is aspiring of owning a fully stocked beauty salon and also buying a generator to ease the electricity problem. She resides in her own house and the family has access to electricity and piped water. Her monthly expenses include school fees, rent for the business premises, and paying utility bills.
