Josefina is a married woman with five children. She is 50 years old and lives in Garang, Tangub City, Philippines. Josefina owns and operates a general store selling a variety of different products to earn a living. She's been five years in this business. Each month she earns 10,000 Philippine pesos (PHP) doing this type of business. She requested a loan of 4,000 PHP to purchase canned goods, noodles, bottled products, candies and biscuits for sale.
In 2009, Josefina joined GDMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her business and living situation. In the future, Josefina wants to build a house and to finish the studies of her children.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
