Odoney
Odoney, is 43 years old. He is married and has a daughter. She doesn't live with him, but she is Odoney's biggest priority. With this loan, Odoney will buy seeds and repair some fences on his farm. He currently owns a small dairy farm and needs to do some repairs and improve his fields in order to better care for his cattle. This is Odoney's first loan with FUDECOSUR. He has never taken out any loans through the national banks, but FUDECOSUR has offered him a loan with much better terms and a lower interest rate.

El actualmente cuenta con una pequeña lechería y necesita hacerle unas mejoras a su infraestructura y su repasto para darles a sus animales un mejor cuido. El espera obtener de sus vacas el máximo de producción y con los ingresos mejorar su calidad de vida y darle un futuro menos incierto a su hija que es su mayor prioridad. Es el primer préstamo que recibido de FUDECOSUR. El no había tenido antes otros préstamos en bancos estatales, pero FUDECOSUR le ha brindado el préstamo con mayores facilidades y la tasa de intereses mucho más baja.

FUDECOSUR works in one of the poorest regions of Costa Rica, where microfinance institutions (MFIs) are scarce or have a hard time keeping up with demand for small loans. By providing mostly agricultural loans, FUDECOSUR reaches rural borrowers that many MFIs consider to be too risky. However, this has also made it more difficult for the organization to find stable sources of capital to lend.
