Grace is married and has five children, four of whom go to school. She also takes care of an additional family member, her father. Grace has a charcoal selling business and has been in this business for 10 years.
Grace has applied for a loan of 2,200,000 from MCDT SACCO to buy more bags of charcoal. She generates additional income from a retail shop. She sells on wholesale seven days out of every week. Her major business challenges include transportation, defaulters, and thieves. She aspires to own a delivery van to ease her transportation and also to have a fully stocked retail shop. Grace resides in a rented house and the family has access to electricity and piped water. Her monthly expenses include rent and school fees.
