Santos Jeremías
Santos, 23, is a young single man living with his family in the settlement of Xecampana (“Under the Bell” in Cakchiquel tongue), Santa Catarina Ixtahuacan Municipality, Sololá Department.

For lack of family resources, Santos decided to start working to help with expenses which is why he learned carpentry. He manufactures tables, chairs, armoires, windows and many other things too. He’s been doing this for three years now and it’s work that he enjoys very much while at the same time it generates good income that helps him to his parents with expenses.

He’s asking for a 5,000 quetzal loan to buy wood to make more furniture. He dreams with growing in the carpentry field and to expand the business. In addition, he wants to provide better customer service.

Santos es un joven de 23 años de edad, soltero; vive junto a su familia en Caserío Xecampana (debajo de la campana en idioma Cakchiquel) municipio de Santa Catarina Ixtahuacan, departamento de Sololá.
Por falta de recursos en la familia, Santos decidió empezar a trabajar para poder ayudar con los gastos; por esa misma razón decidió aprender la labor de carpintería; el elabora mesas, sillas, roperos, ventanas y muchos otros artículos más. Actualmente tiene 3 años de estar realizando esta actividad. Es una labor que le gusta mucho y al mismo tiempo le generan buenos ingresos que le ayudan a apoyar a sus padres en los gastos.
El solicita un préstamo de Q 5,000.00 para compra de madera para la elaboración de más muebles.
Sueña con crecer en el campo de la carpintería y ampliar el negocio, además de prestarles un mejor servicio a sus clientes.

ADICLA's youth entrepreneurship loans allow young people without prior credit histories to borrow in groups, an opportunity that is not offered by many other microfinance institutions in Guatemala. The loans will be used to help them start small businesses.

ADICLA (Association for the Holistic Development of the Basin of Lake Atitlán) is nonprofit rural community development association that provides small loans and services to improve quality of life in two of the poorest regions of Guatemala, home to large indigenous populations. Kiva funding will be used to support three innovative credit initiatives: youth business loans, green loans, and smaller loans to help ADICLA move down-market and serve poorer clients.
