Sah 2 Group

The SAH2 group consists of nine women who live in the same house. The group's representative, named Émilie, is 66 years old. She is the woman raising her hand in the photo.

Émilie did not attend school. She is married to a man named Valentin with whom she has three children. Some of the couple's children are in school and one is their dependent. Émilie lives with her husband and her children and jointly takes care of the household expenses with her husband.

In order to cover the various expenses of the family, Émilie has been selling drinks and frozen water (Pure Water), for about 15 years. She buys her goods at a market located in Benin.

Eager to satisfy the needs of her customers and to increase her turnover and income, she is requesting a second loan from ALIDé, along with the other members of the SAH 2 group. Their previous loan was duly repaid.

Le groupe SAH 2 est composé de neuf personnes qui sont des cohabitantes. La représentante du groupe, du nom de Émilie celle qui a la main levée sur la photo) est âgée de 66 ans. Émilie n'a pas fréquenté l'école. Émilie est mariée à un certain Valentin. Le couple a trois enfants, dont certains scolarisés et un à leur charge. Émilie vit avec son mari et ses enfants. Le couple assure ensemble les charges familiales. Afin de faire face aux diverses charges du ménage, Émilie vend des boissons et de l'eau glacée (pure water) depuis une dizaine d’années. Émilie s’approvisionne dans un marché du Bénin. Dans la quête de la satisfaction de sa clientèle et pour accroître son chiffre d’affaires et son revenu, Émilie sollicite ensemble avec les autres membres du groupe SAH 2, un deuxième crédit auprès de ALIDé. Le prêt antérieur a été bien remboursé.

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients. This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee.
