Edra is married and has four children, all of whom go to school. She also takes care of additional family members (her mother and sisters). She has a restaurant business. Edra has applied for a loan of 1,000,000 Ugandan shillings from MCDTSACCO to buy more bags of Irish potatoes, chicken, charcoal, and cooking oil. She works at the market seven days out of every week and has been in this business for 10 years selling to all categories of people on a retail basis only. Her major business challenges include seasonality, defaulters, and the ever-increasing price of cooking oil. Edra aspires to own a fully stocked restaurant and also to build her own house. She resides in a rented house and the family has no access to electricity or piped water. Her monthly expenses include school fees, rent, and feeding her family.
