Jimson is a 22-year-old, married man with two children, who lives in San Juan Pana-on, Misamis Occidental.
To make a living, he owns and manages his farm planting bananas, fruit trees, and root crops to sell. He has been doing this for three years, earning PHP 5,000 a month.
Jimson recently borrowed an amount of PHP 10,000 from Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) to purchase fertilizer, such as manure. He plans to cultivate the entire farm in order to generate more income for a better future for the family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
