Chea
Fifty-five year old Chea is a father of eight children living in the Moung Ruessei district of Battambang, with his wife and their children. As a village chief, Chea is a hardworking and enthusiastic person who puts a lot of effort into helping the village people as well as his family to get ahead in their businesses. Aiming to change the financial position of the family, he is dedicated to his farming business growing rice on his own farmland of around 2 1/2 hectares. Thanks to his own hard work, and with help from his wife and children, he is able to generate a better net income of KHR 26,800 per day to cover the family’s expenses.

Chea is very grateful to Kiva donors as the loan will be a great help so he will be able to purchase building materials and hire people to construct a bathroom where it will be comfortable for the family to wash or bathe. It’s important for him to keep his family in a living environment that is clean and hygienic.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
