Matainofo is a 28-year-old married woman with one child. She runs a plantation business which has been in operation for many years. Matainofo is requesting a loan to assist her in purchasing chemicals and fertiliser for improving her plantation; iron roofing, timber, nails and cement to help with her home renovation; and school uniforms for her child. Matainofo hopes to maintain her plantation business and use some of the profits to assist with her family's daily needs.
South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) improves conditions for families living in poverty by providing accessible credit, training, and guidance to help them start, grow and maintain micro-businesses, build assets, finance home improvements, and afford to educate their children. 99% of SPBD’s loans go to women, who can borrow in groups to guarantee one another rather than put up collateral.
