Joy is a 25-year-old woman who lives in Clarin, Misamis Occidental. To make a living, she owns and manages a farm planting and harvesting bananas for sale. She has been in this business for four years and her income is not enough to generate additional capital. Therefore, she borrowed a loan from GDMPC micro credit to purchase fertilizer such as manure. She hopes to have a bountiful harvest in order to generate more income for a better future.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
