Jaen, 27, is single and lives in the city of Camaná. He's a very friendly, hardworking, and enthusiastic man who devotes all his effort to getting ahead. Unfortunately, Jaen wasn't able to study for a degree because he lacked the resources and needed to work from a young age to help his parents. In his free time he likes to play soccer with his friends, and sometimes he cooks a delicious shrimp chowder to share with his family.

On his own initiative and with a lot of effort and dedication, Jaen works as a motorcycle taxi driver offering transportation services in his city. He works every day from early in the morning and can work up to approximately 10 hours. He's comfortable doing his job and believes it's going well for him because he knows where to find a greater number of passengers.

Jaen is very grateful to the Kiva lenders because thanks to their help he'll be able to improve his house. He wants to buy construction materials to repair his roof. The rainy season is approaching and Jaen wants to have greater security and well-being.

This way he'll continue working and making the effort to realize his big dream of having a car to be able to work as a taxi driver.

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
