Elvis
Elvis makes a living by breeding cows for the production of milk, which he sells to one of the milk processing plants in La Paz. Elvis is currently single. He lives in his parents’ house, which his located in the community of Guaraya, in the sector of Tihuanaco in Ingavi province, in the department of La Paz. It is three and a half hours away from the city of La Paz. He has several head of crossbred cattle, which require better care given the climatic conditions of the sector.

He needs the loan in order to buy building materials, such as cement and bricks, so he can repair the stable for the cattle. He will thereby be able to improve his production and keep his cows in good health as he will have a closed stable with more warmth.

Elvis’ dream is to increase his head of cattle and ensure they are in good health. This is the second loan he is requesting from IMPRO and it is his first loan with Kiva.

About IMPRO

IMPRO is a small non-profit organization that has been offering micro credit to the working poor in the Bolivian cities of La Paz and El Alto since 1995. IMPRO’s goal is to fight poverty by offering loans to small business owners who cannot access credit through the regular banking system due to a lack of guarantees or collateral.

To ensure that everyone has access to credit, IMPRO maintains a low interest rate by minimizing operational costs. IMPRO’s partnership with Kiva, which began in 2007, has allowed IMPRO to expand its services while maintaining these low interest rates.
