Edgar is a 62-year-old man. He is married with three children, and he lives in Gango, Ozamiz City. He has owned and managed a computer shop for three years, earning 10,000 PHP a month for a living. In order to purchase supplies and accessories, he borrowed 20,000 PHP from GDMPC microcredit, which he joined last year. Edgar wants to expand his business and save a portion of his profits for the future of his family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
