Mejumaa is a married woman with children who are adults. They live in their own house that has electricity and piped water. Her greatest monthly expense is food for the family. For the past 15 years, Mejumaa has operated a business of renting handcarts to people who sell water. She faces the major challenge of seasonality in her place of operation. With this 30,000 Kenyan shilling loan, she wants to purchase more handcarts to rent to enable continuity in her expanding business.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
