Sinat is 42 years old and married with three children. She is a citizen from a rural village of Battambang province’s Sangke district. For the past four years, Sinat has been a rice farmer who works hard to feed her family. She supplements her income by selling vegetables in a village. Sinat’s current business earns about 42,000 KHR each day and she is able to save about 10,000 KHR each day after daily expenses.

Sinat is the leader of a five-member female loan group. She will use her portion of the loan to buy fertilizer for her land and to plow her field. Sinat has been with VisionFund for three cycles. In the future, she hopes to grow healthy rice and increase her family’s income to have a better living standard.

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
