Living in a rural village of the Moung Russey district of Battambang province, Sam is aged 51 years and widowed. Sam has been earning a living through farming rice for ten years. The current business earns her about KHR 45,000 per day, and she can save about KHR 25,000 each day for future needs.
Sam has been with VisionFund for six cycles and fully repaid her loans, which have helped her better support her family. Now she is applying for a loan of KHR 3,000,000 to buy fertilizer and gasoline for her farmland, and to use a portion of it to spend on labor fees.
Sam hopes to grow her current business so as to increase her family’s income to improve her standard of living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
