A loan of $275 helped to purchase more pepper, bitter ball, okra etc for her business.

Esther's story

Esther lives and works in St. Paul. St. Paul is home to the oldest market in Liberia and is known for its fish due to its location by the sea. St. Paul is a suburb located just outside Monrovia, past the Free-port. It is one of the poorer areas and you will often find its residents living in sub-standard housing.

Esther is 59 years old and married with three children between 37 to 23. She did not go to school but she is good at managing her business. Esther runs a table business selling pepper, bitter ball, okra etc. She describes herself as a serious business woman. She started her business ten years ago, using money given to her husband.

Typically, Esther works from 7am to 6pm, from Monday to Saturday at her business and she transports her goods to her business by taxi. She cites her greatest challenge as a lack of capital. She is proud of her business because she is able to use it to support her home.

Using the proceeds of this loan, she intends to purchase more pepper, bitter ball, okra etc for her business. In the future, she plans to build her house and educate her children. She sincerely thanks you in advanced for your support.
