Originally from Kampong Cham province, Phy is 37 years old and married. She has five children, but nowadays only one kid still relies on her as this daughter is still in school.
For the sake of the entire household, she does rice growing on a four-and-a-half hectare area and plants rubber tree seedlings as the main source of income. Phy has been with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner) for the past two loan cycles and she fully repaid the loans. The past loans have enabled her to upgrade her living status at a good pace.
For this new loan, she will spend her loan portion to buy necessary materials to support her rubber tree seedlings and to purchase fertilizer for her farmland. She highly hopes that she can earn more income to better her lifestyle.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
