Narun
Narun, a young mother of two schoolchildren, is 28 years old and an inhabitant of Pursat Province. She earns a living by rice growing and Khmer noodle selling to support the entire household. This business has earned her about 12,700 KHR per day. This is not the first loan for Narun with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She succeeded in using her past loan, which she has repaid completely, to support her business and set aside some portion to buy necessary household materials. Currently, a shortage of working capital to buy buffalo to support her farmland is the main challenge for her. Therefore, she has decided to take another loan in order to overcome her challenges. She hopes that this purchase will support her business on time so as she can earn more income for her kids’ sake.

About VisionFund Cambodia

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
