Virginia, a married woman, a fifty-one years old with two children, lives in Prenza, Tangub City. To make a living, she owns and manages a store selling goods in the local community. In 2010, she joined GDMPC and she gained access to micro finance services. Recently, she borrowed the amount of 19,800 PHP to purchase canned goods, noodles, sugar and spices for sale. Virginia plans to saved a portion from her profit in order to have reserved fund for the future of the entire family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
