Samuel Isaias
Samuel is 55 years old. He lives in Camaná with his wife and children. He loves his family and they are his reason for living. Samuel is a friendly, hardworking, and enthusiastic person. Together, he and his wife dedicate all of their efforts to getting their family ahead. Regrettably, due to lack of financial resources and the need to start working at a young age to help his parents, Samuel couldn’t study for a professional degree. In his free time he enjoys going fishing with his family and sometimes cooks the delicious “Lomo Saltado” [beef strip stir fry with rice and fries] to share with his family.

By his own initiative, and with much determination and dedication, Samuel works in his small business of catching and selling shrimp. He works every day and can work for about eight hours. Samuel feels at ease doing his job and believes that it is going well because of his experience and the kind treatment he offers to others.

Samuel is very grateful for the Kiva loans because, thanks to their help, he will be able to make improvements to his home. He wants to purchase construction materials to fence off the back of his home as, in this way, his family will have greater security and well-being. So, Samuel will continue working and striving to achieve his great dream of having his own shrimp farm.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
