Martin resides in Houston but is a long way from home. His original hometown of London, England had been his address before moving to Texas. With five years of experience, his start-up business, Prestigious Movers, has been in business for the past 10 months with one full-time employee.
He and his employee spend the days moving furniture for customers using the best customer service and professionalism during each job. Serving the Houston area, the state of Texas, and beyond – their reach has no borders. Customers can expect a flat rate charge depending on the amount of furniture being moved and time it takes to do so. Martin stresses his competitive prices that are both reasonable and fair.
Other services provided by Martin and his company include removal of goods, wrapping delicates, and picking up ordered furniture for his customers.
Martin came to Accion Texas Inc. when a friend informed him about the organization that assists the Houston community with capital for their companies. Martin was intrigued due to the fact that he was spending $400 a month in rental fees for delivery trucks to move customers. He received approval for an Accion loan and proceeded to purchase a box truck to offset the monthly rental costs of a moving truck. Other portions of the loan were used to pay for his full-time employee and continue to offer competitive wages to retain his employee. Martin says, “I would be stuck in the same cycle, having to rent a moving truck and barely make money from each job.” He plans to hire four additional full-time employees when business picks up and there is a demand.
