This solidarity credit group is made up of four women who have taken and repaid loans without any difficulty since 2008. Their main activity is retail.

Aminata, the group's representative, is also the treasurer of the Banc Villageois. She is 44 years old and her husband's first (out of two) wife. She is the mother of six children, including two girls.

Aminata has a shop inside her house, and she sells prepaid phone cards issued by the country's three providers. She has ten years of experience in this field. In the photo, she is the woman raising her left hand.

She plans to use her loan to buy 50,000 francs worth of prepaid phone cards as well as 200,000 francs worth of various goods (rice, milk, sugar, soap...) in order to strengthen her business and increase her income. The sale pf prepaid phone cards is going well, since she is the only distributor in the area.

With her profits, Aminata boosts her savings and increases her stock of merchandise in her shop in order to have a larger inventory.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
