Living in a rural village of the Ponhea Krek district of Kampong Cham province, Neath is aged 36 years and married with three dependent children. Two are in school while the remaining one is too young for school. Neath and her husband earn a living through farming rice and growing cassava for 16 years. The current business earns her about KHR 84,000 per day and she can save about KHR 40,000 each day for future needs. Neath is with VisionFund this loan cycle. Now, she is asking for another loan with VisionFund of KHR 2,000,000 to buy fertilizers and pesticides for her cultivated land. She hopes to grow her current business so as to increase her family’s income to improve her standard of living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
