Yoeng, aged 40 years old, lives with his family members in a rural village of Kampong Cham province’s Ponhea Krek district. He has three children, one of whom is dependent on him and still in school. To better support his family, he has been farming rice on three hectares of farmland and planting corn on five hectares of farmland. His wife also supplements the family’s income by selling pork in the village. This is the first micro loan for Yoeng with VisionFund. Now, he is applying for a loan with VisionFund to buy fertilizer for his cassava and rice growing. He hopes to increase his crop yields and earn more income to improve his standard of living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
