Sumera's Group
In this Group: Sumera, Nusrat
Sumera, age 28, is a homemaker in Lahore, Pakistan. She is responsible for the upkeep of her home and the care of her three children. She is the leader of this borrower group of two members.

Sumera's husband is a rickshaw driver by profession. For some weeks now, his rickshaw has not been working properly, which means he is currently unable to generate any amount of income. He wants to repair his rickshaw as soon as possible, but he does not have the funds to cover the cost of the necessary repairs.

Sumera has decided to request a loan from Kiva partner BRAC Pakistan in order to help her husband cover the costs of repairing his rickshaw. This will help him to continue his business and support his family.

Sumera is very thankful to Kiva lenders.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
